Senior Structural Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Design Engineer to lead and manage structural design activities for complex road infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of structural engineering principles as applied to highways, bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related infrastructure.

This role demands a strong background in structural analysis, design software proficiency, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary coordination and client interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the structural design of road infrastructure elements including:

o Bridges (RCC, PSC, steel)

o Flyovers

o Box and pipe culverts

o Retaining walls

o Grade separators and underpasses

• Review and validate structural calculations, drawings, reports, and design documentation.

• Ensure compliance with national and international codes (IRC, IS, AASHTO, BS, Eurocode etc.)

• Coordinate with geotechnical, highway, drainage, and traffic teams to integrate structural design within overall project scope.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.

• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises.

• Support the preparation of technical proposals and BOQs for tenders and bids.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to address technical issues and resolve site queries.

• Ensure adherence to project timelines, budget, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).

• Minimum 15 years of experience in structural design with a focus on road infrastructure projects.

• In-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles and modern design practices.

• Proficiency in software design such as:

o STAAD.Pro

o MIDAS Civil / RM Bridge

o AutoCAD Civil 3D / Revit (for detailing and modeling) mandatory

o MS Office Suite

• Sound knowledge of relevant codes and standards (IRC, IS, AASHTO, Eurocodes, etc.)

• Strong project management and leadership skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience working with government/municipal authorities or on national highway/expressway projects is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with major infrastructure consultants or EPC contractors.

• Involvement in end-to-end project delivery: from concept to construction support.

• Experience with BIM implementation in structural design is advantageous.
